Oatlands, located adjacent to James Ruse Drive (also known as Cumberland Highway) and Pennant Hills Road, is approximately 24km from Sydney CBD.

Oatlands is a mainly modern area on the outskirts of The Hills and is close to Parramatta.

Large executive houses characterise the suburb as well as a number of older style buildings such as Burnside Homes.

A small neighbourhood shopping centre is located in the suburb but major shopping needs are provided by surrounding suburbs such as Parramatta.

Also within Oatlands is a large golf course and wedding reception venue that is quite popular.
